Lit / Nivorous
Literature “the written material of the imagination” + Vorare from the Latin meaning “to devour”
Litnivorous is a feast of contemporary literary culture. Here you will find news, discoveries, events, writing prompts, interviews, essays, funnies, poetry, poetry, and more poetry! Nom.
We have an aversion to fiction writers, but that doesn’t mean prose stylists are unwelcome, it just means we’d never make out with you. We are happy to exist if only to prove that there is a thriving literary scene in the United States (California particularly, Online inexhaustibly). Poets are young and hot (also, old and hot). Most importantly, awesome poets are ALIVE TODAY.
If you thought poetry stopped at the Everyman’s Pocket Poets you collected as a kid, that all your favorite poets are dead, or the only cool thing modern poetry has to offer is that little boy on You Tube reciting Billy Collins, we’re here to prove you wrong!
.
Not that this little boy isn’t totally adorable! He is. Of course he is. We’re poets, not Fascists.

“I tell you, if I hadn’t | felt his eye all the way to you, | I might have driven until I found | another cat, might have gotten | out and walked the forty years | home. I tell you, I might have lain | down in the god-niverous dark.”

I’ve sent it to a friend
Thanks! I love your drawing blog and am excited to see your work. Ten Reasons was in response to a post from the Rumpus, about not sleeping with poets…well, we just couldn’t let them have the last word!!
